Another round of Rotary was played yesterday with two of our teams playing at the RSA and the other two at Foxton Beach. I had a team at the latter green and when we arrived, we were met by a strong wind and a gray sky, not very inviting. Our first game against a Waitarere team was a real hit …
A Big Day Out
Three men’s teams from the club played in the Central Levin Men’s Gala today, Fred Adams’ team taking 3rd place on Green 2. Murray Griffin and my team came up with only 2 wins each but enjoyed the competition. Paul Gardner lead for me in the afternoon and played extremely well, setting up the head for us. In our last …
Interclub-Another Round Played
Another round of Interclub was played yesterday, the men’s Super 7’s playing at Raumati South, the men’s Reserve 7’s at Paraparaumu Beach and the Women’s Reserve 7’s at Central Levin. Thanks, Greenkeeper Tony
What has become an annual event took place on the cotula green today, the Greenkeeper’s Mixed Triples Gala. The green was in fine order thanks to Green Superintendent Neville Winiata and Green Keeper, Tony Jones. It took some players awhile to adjust their bowl’s speed as for some time, the green has been holding, but today it was a pleasure …
The Win Helped
Labour Day and a Mini Gala was held this afternoon for those who spent the day in their home town. A lovely sunny afternoon as well. Entry fee, $2.00, and then the names were drawn for the three games of six ends. Wins, ends and shots won were used to find the winners and resulted as follows: 1st – Colin …
In The Red
Nothing to do with financial matters, simply a way of letting you know that I wore a red shirt for bowls over the last two days, playing with Steve Felgitscher and Neville Turnbull in the KCBC Open Triples at Central Levin. (Originally, Selwyn Riwaka was part of the team but had to drop out, so I was filling in.) Yesterday …
Rotary (Central/Shannon)
This round of Rotary was played at Central and Shannon. Fred Adams, playing at Shannon with Neville Winiata and new club member, Stafford Ball, won both games but our other team skipped by Joe Wnek, gained 1 win. At Central, Bob Kitto’s team didn’t fare too well, recording two losses and my team managed to win only our first game. …
Pennants – Round 1
Off we went to Waikanae to play in the first round of Pennants but as we neared the town, we noticed that the trees lining the side of the road were moving, a sure sign that wind was in the area. This proved to be so once we got started on the greens, after firstly making sure that we were …
Nearly
The Men’s Fours Championship was held today and for a time, it nearly looked as thought it wouldn’t be played. It had rained most of the night but cleared enough for Tony to cut and roll the green early this morning. At the appointed time, just before the 9.00am start, the two teams to play the the semi final started …
KCBC 2x4x2 Final
After winning their semi-final game, Ann Malone, partnered by Danny Madden from Central Levin, faced another combined team, Maureen Linford and Neville Quirk from Waikanae and Paraparaumu Beach. A close game, but the win went to the Linford-Quirke combination 13-8. Our congratulations to all but especially our club member, Ann.
