An ‘Odd’ Week

Must have been my age! Things should have got under way last Monday but nor so. It was late in the day when I remembered that I was going to attend a funeral but,,,,I just forgot. Came Tuesday, nothing to note in my club book or on my calendar so I spent much of the morning in the garden, that …

Mixed Singles – A Wonderful Day

The competition for this event started early this month but waited until today to get it completed. Some wonderful games were played throughout the day, watched by interested members and the final wasn’t completed until 5.55pm The cotula green was in great condition and the players appreciated the work that had been done to bring it up to such a …

A Windy Gala

It had rained overnight and there was still some water on the cotula green but the surface on the artificial green was clear and ready to use. Just a pity though that the weather was poor – windy, cloudy, certainly not the best for our day of …

2014 Championship Fours Completed

Today saw the Men’s and Women’s post-section play take place on the cotula green. It wasn’t the best ‘summer’s’ day for the competition, generally cloudy and with gusting wind, but the games led to the finals of this seasons Fours Championship. Dianne Short’s team played Lodzia Wnek’s Four in the semifinal with the latter team winning 18-11. Margaret Griffin’s team …

Women’s Singles Completed

It started in early December 2013 and was finally completed this Monday after waiting to find a day that was free and the weather, good. Sunday and it’s Raining

Not what was hoped for today. Post-section play for the Mixed Singles was to follow on from yesterday’s play but it has been raining most of the morning today and things are not looking promising. In theory, play can take place on the artificial green in the afternoon (no water on the surface) but the cotula green is well flooded …
